About this speaker

Dr. Shayla Polk is a licensed clinical social worker with a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Social Work, a Master’s degree in social work, and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. She works as the Prevention Systems Manager for Louisiana’s Governor’s Office of Drug Policy where she is responsible for maintaining and improving the statewide substance abuse prevention infrastructure, providing training and technical assistance to community-based coalitions, and implementing strategies to reduce underage drinking.

In addition, Dr. Polk is a trauma-informed licensed therapist, adjunct instructor of social work, holistic wellness coach, and speaker. Her areas of expertise include trauma, depression, stress management, anxiety, crisis intervention, mindfulness, mental health, empowerment, the strengths perspective, and the eight dimensions of wellness.
